Weekend In Rexburg!

I decided that after almost a year and a half since I left school back in July of 2008, it was time to head back to Rexburg for a visit! :] I checked Macy out of school early on Friday afternoon, and with Jamba Juice, some fast food, and a full tank of gas, we were off! Clarin was supposed to come with us on our little adventure, but she got a better offer having a movie night with some of her friends. We gave her a pretty bad time about ditching us and wish she would have come. We arrived in Rexburg around 3:30, and after dropping off our stuff at Mike and Brit’s way cute house, we decided to take a tour of the campus. I can’t believe how much it has changed since I’ve been there! They totally re-did the whole Manwaring Center including the bookstore, which is amazing! I was a little bummed that they totally demolished The Galley. I have so many good memories there. The whole cafeteria area, which they named the Crossroads, is amazing. The style is super modern and I just thought it all looked so awesome! Mace and I headed over to the Benson building to hunt Brit down. She was tutoring a biology class and then had to go to work so we wanted to say hi and we eventually were able to find her classroom over by the “rainforest.” My good friend Jake Hartranft and I met up for dinner at New Fong’s and Macy and Mike decided to join us. Fong’s was one of my most favorite restaurants to eat at while I was at school, and we had a great dinner with delicious food and good company. After dinner, Macy, Jake and I headed to the Westwood for the We Shot the Moon concert. It was my fifth time seeing them in concert! They performed with Preston and Allred. It was a great show all around. I got to see a few old friends, and do some reminiscing about memories from school. It kind of made me sad. After the show, we had to go get drinks and Idaho Spuds at Horkley’s! Jake dropped us off at Mike and Brit’s and we got comfy and fell asleep after watching “The Invasion” which was a totally creepy movie! We slept in late, and then headed off to Paul Mitchell to get pampered! Brit and Macy got pedicures, and I got a manicure. The girl didn’t do a very good job, but it was still a fun thing to do with my sisters. Jake picked me up and we headed to Idaho Falls to go to lunch at Blue Hashi. It is an amazing sushi restaurant that we frequented a lot during school. We had a great lunch date. I really enjoy spending time with Jake. He dropped me off afterward at the Mongolian Grill where Macy and Brittany were having lunch. We went to Target to visit Mike and bring him lunch. Then we headed to the mall to do some shopping. We were supposed to head back home, but it started snowing pretty bad so we decided to stay another night instead of risking the drive home. I found out that the weather had caused the band to flip their van and trailer while on their way to Salt Lake to perform. Scary! Luckily, no one was hurt, but they did suffer over $10,000 in equipment damage. I was glad we decided to stay put. After the mall we stopped at Walmart for a few things, and then headed back to Rexburg. Jake picked me up and we got Taco Bell and watched “August Rush” at his apartment. He dropped me off afterwards, and we all went over to Janelle and her husband Luke’s house to visit. We had pie and ice cream and played “The Bean Game” which was really fun. It was pretty late when we left, but when we got home we made hot cocoa and fell asleep watching “Angels and Demons.” We slept in again, and after playing a game of “Trains” we packed up and headed for home. The roads were clear and dry, and we made it home safe and sound. It was a great weekend, but we are glad to be home!

Two Posts In One Day...Is That Allowed? ;]

Tuesday proved to be uneventful at best, but I am more than enjoying my newly found freedom each day. :] I was able to get a new book from the library called "The Woods" written by one of my favorite authors; Harlan Coben. I'm excited to start it. I checked out some digital cameras at Walmart, and I'm hoping to be a proud new owner sometime within the next few days. It's my goal to get better at taking pictures where ever I go! My dinner turned out d e l i c i o u s and I know my mom really enjoys a break from cooking once in a while. It really is true what she always says...food always tastes better when you don't have to cook it! Side note...this afternoon a gorgeous flower arrangement with orange roses and daisies was delivered to our house for mom. She was still at work and Clarin and I were too curious as to who it was from that we had to peak at the card. Come to find out the sender was Mike Hoggan my brother-in-law! He wrote such a sweet note just saying that she is a really special mom and that he thought she needed to be reminded of that. She does so much for us, and in comparison gets so little in return. She was soooo happy and I think it made her whole month. Between the flowers and not having to cook dinner, maybe even her whole year was made. He sure showed all of us up, I know that! Brittany didn't even know he had sent them. What a great guy. Good pick, Brit. Macy and I headed to meditation class after dinner to find that it had been cancelled for the night. I was pretty disappointed because I was really looking forward to an hour of relaxation and a chance to think and clear my head a bit. There's always next week and yoga class tomorrow night! Goodnight!

I'm New...I Don't Know What To Do!

Well I'm new to this whole blogging world...so bear with me as I try to get things rolling! This week=so far, so good and pretty uneventful. I went to church on Sunday with my family, and heard this really good quote that I have had on my mind ever since: "Bitterness is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die." Our Sunday dinner was A M A Z I N G! We had breaded ranch chicken, cheesy crock-pot potatoes, salad, rolls and milk! Can I just say that my Mom never disappoints? I finished reading "Catching Fire" the sequel to "The Hunger Games". I enjoyed it, but it left me wanting more! I hate books like that. I guess I'll have to be patient and wait for the next one to come out, whenever that is! My cute cousin Parker has been giving me a hard time because I've been taking my sweet time finishing the book and he is waiting to read it. He has been on the waiting list at the library since summertime and was about #15o on the list. As soon as I finished it, Clarin and I drove over to Farmington to drop it off for him. He was very happy to say that least and I suspect by now that he already has it finished. After spending some time with the Farmington Franks laughing uncontrollably as you always do when you're around my Uncle Mark, we kept up the Sunday tradition of watching The Amazing Race. It is getting close to the end of the season with only about five teams left. I am not looking forward to it being over because it will be another several months before it starts up again. It has become a fun Sunday tradition between me, my Grandma and sisters. Monday I spent unpacking from my St. George trip last week, doing laundry, cleaning out my dresser drawers, and other things around the house. Oh, I also made some peanut butter bars that turned out delicious! Clarin was "sick" and stayed home from school today so I babied her by making her Top Raman, milkshakes, and making sure she was taken care of. Macy and I went to a yoga class Monday night and once we got all of our giggles and "farts" out, we really enjoyed it. It was totally relaxing and quite a good work-out actually! We are sore today! I am going to start going several times a week. :) Namaste! Today is Tuesday, and if I can drag myself off this couch (which is a big IF at this point!) and away from the TV which is playing a Law and Order: SVU marathon all day today, my day looks like this: shower, get ready for the day, go to the library for some new books to read, Walmart to pick up a new digital camera to further assist me in the blogging :) and to do some grocery shopping for the dinner I'll be cooking tonight for the family (Fettechini alfredo, french bread and salad! Yum!) and meditation class tonight at 6:30. This will be my first meditation class, and I'm so excited! :) Happy Tuesday everyone! <3
